I briefly mentioned Register Rewards that is a promotion at Walgreens in a previous post. The incentive is to buy the specified products and amount and then receive a coupon to be used towards a future purchase.
For example, I purchased 3 bottles of Aussie hair spray on sale: 3 for $8 with a Walgreens card. The purchase of 2 results in a coupon for $3 off a future purchase.
The Walgreens app also had a digital coupon for $3 off when 3 Aussie products are purchased. I paid $5 out of pocket for 3 Aussie hairsprays and then received the $3 Register Rewards coupon.
My future purchase (which sometimes, I make 2 purchases in a row) was for Crunchmaster crackers (on sale 2 for $5) and Colgate mouthwash.
Just the crackers alone would have been enough to cash in on the $3 Register Reward from the previous purchase. I had a manufacturer coupon for the crackers: $1.50 off 2.
Here's the breakdown on the crackers:
$5 sale price for 2
-$1.50 manufacturer coupon
=$3.50
-$3 Register Rewards coupon
=50¢
Onto the mouthwash scenario. I was expecting to use the digital coupon on the Walgreens app: $2 off (any Colgate mouthwash 400mL or larger).
The surprise came when I found a bottle on clearance marked down to $4.49 from $6.29 (a $1.80 savings). To add to the clearance savings of $1.80, the digital coupon was deducted at the register. The bottle was $2.49 instead of $6.29. Bonus!!!
I love when a plan comes together!
